Upgrade to the workshop…

As this week’s blog entry, I thought I would share a few pictures of the workshop and a little upgrade I worked on to increase my workbench space. This entry is a bit more towards the woodworking enthusiast side of my readers as opposed to those of you who like the products….
As you can see in the pictures, I make all my own workbenches and storage and stick to the principle of nearly everything being on wheels. This includes my very heavy lathe station where my lathe and all the associated bits and pieces are kept. Some time ago I made a huge and very robust set of shelves (as you can see in the pictures!). They stand about 210cm high (7ft) by 240cm long (8ft) and my latest upgrade is to install a pair of sliding work benches into them.
While this effectively halves the height of the lower row of shelves, it gives me lots of design room and temporary space. Plus, added bonus, I made them the same height as my table saw top so they are extra infeed and outfeed table space!
Anyway…. I hope you enjoy this little insight behind the scenes and if woodworking is your passion, maybe something here has sparked your own upgrade ideas for your space. Take care and catch you next weekend for an update on new items coming to the shop!
