Wooden things of beauty created in Derbyshire
This all started when I needed to replace my garden gate…. a strange start considering where I ended up!
I could not source one of the right size and quality at a reasonable cost so I thought I would try to make one. As it turned out, I had a small bit of talent for making things (or so I was told, but perhaps that was just family members being kind). This led me to making some other garden items, then when the weather turned I decided to try making a few indoor items, my most adventurous of which was a maple and oak chessboard which I have to say, went very well.
After this, I invested in a lathe and made my first thing… a bottle stopper. I fell in love with the process.
Fast forward to today and I have made many stoppers, openers, pens, clocks and bowls, all gifted to family and friends who thought they were beautiful. I came to the realisation that this is going to be a life long passion that fills my spare time, and the things I make bring me joy especially when I know other people enjoy having and using them. Thanks to a brilliantly simple process, I opened my Etsy store at the start of 2024 and haven’t looked back.
